For the cosmetic field, many aloe vera juices are suspended in this product to make an all natural aloe vera gel, and it can be used in the same manner to thicken any liquid product that needs a slight emulsifier. Food Grade, wildcrafted.
This wildharvested, dried and pulverized moss, is used in the food industry to create the common thickening agent called carrageen. Its also used as an herbal remedy for coughs, ulcers and indigestion. For the cosmetic industry, you can suspend in this product in liquid to make an all natural gel like product, or light emulsifier.
To use: Rinse well 4 times and discard the rinse water. Place in a container, cover with water, and let soak in the refrigerator for 6 hours. Day 2: change the water, several times over the next few hours (always use cold water). The moss will be ready to use when it has a creamy white color and its nearly double in size and weight. Drain the water one last time, and add fresh water (about 50% irish moss and 50% water by weight). Blend until the moss is super creamy. Then add in your other ingredients.
Irish Moss is not only a thickener, it is said to help turn dry, rough, patchy skin into smooth, silky, hydrated skin. The gel is said to be topically soothing to sunburns, psoriasis and eczema related issues.
Please note that this item is seaweed and smells as such. As you go thru the rinsing process, the scent will continue to lighten until its ready to be blended.
