Just as the name implies this is the powdered bark from the Prunus serotina or wild cherry tree. This powder makes a wonderful natural soap colorant, which will will color a warm reddish brown, plus add antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fungicidal properties. Because of these three benefits that are strong within this powdered bark, try adding some to your healing salve recipes for boo-boo creams, eczema and other skin issues.

To use as a soap colorant, suspend a small amount in warm glycerin and once the color as been released, add drop by drop to your melt & pour base until the color is achieved. For cold process soap, add 2 tablespoons per 5 pounds of soap base. Remove 1 cup of almost traced base, stir in well then work back into the soap pot.
