Commonly called vitamin B5, or pro-vitamin B5, this powder is a cosmetic grade blend of panthenol's 'D' and 'L' - both hold excellent moisturizing benefits for skin and hair application.

Like glycerin, panthenol is a humectant, emollient and moisturizer. It holds the ability to coat and seal the hair shafts, making it one of the best known additives for shampoo and conditioners.

Try adding a 2% to 5% ratio into your lotions, creams and healing salve recipes. Its known for its skin healing benefits from mild sunburns, abrasions, heat burns, to common skin aliments. Used in conjunction with zinc oxide or allantion powder, the combo really packs a skin healing punch!

Panthenol is not absorbed thru the skin or hair, but rather works as a topical application, so this should be considered when formulating your recipes.
